Research Volunteer

Support our coral propagation and quarantine facility — coral care, water quality monitoring, data recording and tank maintenance. All training provided. No prior experience needed.

Education Volunteer

Help us deliver free coral science events at local schools and community venues across South Somerset. Support session facilitation, materials preparation and outreach. Full training provided.

Operations Volunteer

Help with event logistics, photography, social media, administration and anything else that keeps Coral Futures running smoothly. All practical skills welcome.

You Don't Need a Science Degree to Help Save a Coral Reef

Coral Futures is built by people who care — not just about reefs, but about doing something genuinely useful about them. We are a small, early-stage organisation. That means volunteers here have real visibility, real responsibility and real impact.

We are rigorous about how we work: every volunteer receives proper training, operates within a clear safeguarding framework, and is supported throughout their involvement. Whatever you bring — scientific knowledge, teaching experience, practical skills, digital expertise, or simply reliable time — there is a meaningful role for you here.

Proper induction and role-specific training before you begin any work.
A safeguarding-aware environment — all volunteers working with young people complete a DBS check, covered by us.
Flexible scheduling — we work around your availability wherever possible.
References available for regular volunteers after three months of involvement.
