New Nonprofit Launches

New Nonprofit “Coral Futures Research & Innovation Centre” Launches Ahead of Charity Commission Approval to Accelerate Global Coral Conservation

A new organisation dedicated to coral conservation, climate resilience, and marine science innovation has launched as Coral Futures Research & Innovation Centre. The nonprofit is currently awaiting final registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with the UK Charity Commission, but its work has already begun due to the urgent need to protect coral reefs.

The nonprofit is currently awaiting final registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with the UK Charity Commission, but its work has already begun due to the urgent need to protect coral reefs. Coral Futures has been created in response to the accelerating decline of global coral ecosystems. Scientists warn that up to 90% of the world’s coral reefs could be lost by 2050 if action is not taken. The organisation aims to change this trajectory through scientific research, new restoration technologies, and widespread public engagement. The mission of Coral Futures is to advance coral science and restoration methods, develop scalable coral farming systems, protect genetic diversity, promote climate-resilient species, and inspire future marine researchers and conservationists. Its work will involve both UK-based research systems and global field projects, including mobile, off-grid coral nurseries that can be deployed directly to threatened reef sites. While awaiting final charity approval, Coral Futures has already begun public awareness campaigns, introduced its mission and team, and started building partnerships with researchers and conservation organisations. It is also developing educational programmes, scientific collaborations, and a public petition calling for urgent global coral action.
We cannot afford to wait for ideal conditions to take action. Coral reefs are collapsing in real time. This generation still has a chance to save them — but only if we combine science, innovation, and global cooperation. Coral Futures exists to push that forward, faster than ever before. We are building not just another conservation project, but a movement to protect one of the planet’s most vital ecosystems. The future of coral reefs is still unwritten, and we’re here to help write a better one.

Coral Futures will soon launch its first public campaign, calling on governments, research institutions, and global leaders to scale up funding and commit to climate-resilient reef solutions. Supporters, scientists, students, and partners are invited to follow the initiative and get involved at this critical early stage.

Coral Futures Research & Innovation Centre is a nonprofit dedicated to restoring coral reefs through science, innovation, and collaboration. Its goal is to make conservation more adaptive, accessible, and future-focused — driven not only by urgency, but by hope.
